Club Trips and Events
We're flying every Sunday at Alexandra. We generally meet between 10 and 11am
depending on how the day looks. If
it's
good during the week we'll fly too, and generally arrange this with a
ring-around or emails.
Speaking of emails: Every week the club captain sends out a "Flying Update"
with a report about what happened last week and what's organised for the
weekend. Go to the

Coming Up

Xmas '08/New Year '09 (Wardells)
Pete and John flew a bit at Wardells, in fact Pete did over 50hrs(!) during Jan
and flew several very long distance flights
Manapouri Camp Dec 1st to 7th 2008
It was a bit damp at times but we had a good time and some
spectacular flying. John and Pete attended from Alex.

Wardells over Xmas/New Year
Good fun as usual. Flights to Mt Cook and Brewster. Pete, John and Brian all
visited at times. Great weather this summer! Thanks SCGC for looking after us.

Te Anau Gliding Camp, 1 to 9th December 2007
Fine wx in Fiordland! This camp was a low-key gathering of gliding friends snd
was a great success.
Five Rivers visit, 26/27 May 2007
Good flying! Wave on Saturday (16000') although strong winds aloft (74kts). We
had dinner at the 5R Station Cafe. On Sunday we had good ridge lift and even
thermals in mid winter.
Wardells Easter 2007
Pete and Brian flew at Wardells over Easter. Not the greatest soaring weather
but we all had a good time.
Nelson (yes Nelson Lakes) 17 - 24th Feb
Chris D and John flew with Vintage Kiwi pilots and Nelson crew at Lake Rotoiti
for
a week++ soaring. We had good wx, good soaring and generally had a great time.

Wardells Xmas/New Year
Pete, John and Chris spent time at Wardells. Chris flew the PW5 before stepping
up to the LS4. Overall the weather wasn't the best...damn cold at times. A lot
of easterlies. However we had a good time with our South Canty hosts, and flew
most days.
Manapouri 8 to 11th December
Been! Great fun, great flying and real scenic location. Come along next year!
Wardells 17/18th December
Been!, good flights had with the ATC cadets and SCGC members. On the Saturday
Darren, Pee and John flew around the Dobson and down to Makarora and back in
good thermals.
Wanaka 3/4th December
Been! Good flying had on the Criffel.
Five Rivers 5+6th November
Wave and good ridge lift Saturday. We stayed at the Lumsden pub Saturday night,
dinner at the Mayfly.
Weak thermals Sunday. An enjoyable weekend.
